Where Nebraska’s notable high school football transfers will play this fall

My cmnt: This has become a real problem in high school football. Some schools can barely field a competitive team (i.e., Lincoln High) while others send 8 players to Division 1 colleges (i.e., Millard South). Numerous coaches have said as much.

Trae Taylor (Mundelein, Ill.) and Antayvious Ellis (Crowley, Texas) to Millard South

Two of the highest-profile transfers in recent memory have entered the state’s high school football scene following their collegiate commitments to Nebraska’s 2027 recruiting class.

Taylor even posted in January that he will be “living in Lincoln (and) commuting to Omaha” to attend Millard South.

Both players competed in tough classes last fall when Taylor, a 5-star quarterback, threw for 3,500 yards and 38 touchdowns, and Ellis posted another big year against Texas defensive backs.

Joining the big-play wideout with Taylor’s obvious arm talent will make for must-watch football.

Tory Pittman III and Kylonn Hanie, Omaha Central to Millard North

A pair of major difference-makers are now at Millard North as Pittman, another Husker football commit, enters his fourth year as a varsity starter. The all-state defensive back is also a big-play threat at wide receiver who needs the ball in his hands.

The Millard North offense will also run through Hanie, a former 1,000-yard rusher who’s found the end zone 21 times in the last two years.

Bryce Johnson Jr. and Tristian Gerez-James, Bellevue West to Omaha Westside

An all-state wide receiver last fall at Bellevue West, Johnson will now enjoy catching passes from Westside quarterback Braylen Warren. Gerez-James is an all-around athlete who could help on offense alongside a role in the Warrior secondary.

Najee Brown, Colton Tucker and Isaac Tomhave, Lincoln East to Millard South

Lincoln East lost a key starting defender in Tucker, a senior linebacker who posted 70 sacks for the Spartans in 2025.

A pair of high-potential young wide receivers has also left for Millard South. Brown, a junior who hauled in 19 passes for 215 yards last season, could become one of the state’s best pass-catchers.

Tomhave appeared less frequently on the varsity level, but the 6-foot-4 junior wideout’s departure also hurts East’s offensive depth.

Jasiah Summerfield, Omaha Burke to Omaha Central

The Eagles have a new starting quarterback in Summerfield, a senior dual-threat passer who fell just short of a 2,000-yard season for Burke last year.

Logan Grosdidier, Platteview to Millard North

Grosdidier will become Millard North’s senior starting quarterback after two years at the position with Platteview, including a 2025 season where he scored 21 touchdowns.

Yasir Grixby, Omaha Central to Omaha Westside

A do-it-all athlete who appeared at quarterback, wide receiver and cornerback in his first two years of varsity football, Grixby is hard to tackle with the football in his hands. He’ll get a chance to shine as a junior in what projects to be a high-scoring Westside offense.

Chase White (Mount Vernon, N.Y.) to Boys Town

A 6-foot-5 senior with past varsity experience at Mount Vernon High School in New York, White will take over as Boys Town’s starting quarterback and could be a player to watch in Class C-1.

Max Holling (Grand Island), Andrej Sabatka (Hastings St. Cecilia) and Bo Stobbe (Grand Island Northwest) to Grand Island Central Catholic

A trio of local transfers won’t have to go far as their arrivals keep Grand Island CC as a title contender in Class C-2.

Holling could be a two-way contributor at running back and linebacker, and the same is true for Stobbe along the offensive and defensive lines. Sabatka, a highly productive edge rusher, is a North Dakota State commit who’s sure to trouble opposing blockers.

Luke Wellman, Columbus Lakeview to Leigh

Not every transfer involves players moving up the classes. Wellman, an all-state offensive lineman in Class C-1, will drop to the eight-man ranks with the Leigh Panthers in D-3.
