My cmnt: Ding-Dong the witch is Dead! Which old witch? The wicked witch. Ding-Dong the wicked witch is dead.

As RedState’s Nick Arama reported earlier today, all signs were pointing to Nancy Pelosi making a big announcement today at noon Eastern time. Speculation ran from her stepping away from her leadership position in the House to her resigning her Congressional seat and installing her daughter, Christine, as her successor.

The good news first: Nancy Pelosi has confirmed that she’s definitely, 100%, for sure not going to be running for a leadership role in the new House session. She’s done. Outta there. Kind of. The bad news is that she’ll still be around as a “backbencher” to help guide the new leadership team.

PELOSI: “I will not seek reelection to Democratic leadership in the next Congress.”

The super-duper devout Catholic added:

“We must move boldly into the future,” Pelosi said. “Scripture teaches us that for everything there is a season.”

Let’s be honest, the House of Representatives is long overdue for new a season. Would Pelosi have made such a bold move if Democrats had retained control of the House? Possibly. But, in the wake of Republicans officially winning the House, a flurry of activity has surrounded the Dems. With the GOP ready to unleash a torrent of investigations into Democrat-related scandals, octogenarian Pelosi likely didn’t have the energy to fight the onslaught. Her powers seemed to have greatly diminished in recent years, with the uber-liberal ladies of “The Squad” outflanking her from the far left.

Unfortunately for the nation, the presumed incoming leader of the House Democrats will be Pelosi’s hand-picked successor, Hakeem Jeffries, who looks poised to be even more radical. Presumed new speaker Kevin McCarthy is going to have his hands full and better rally his troops ahead of the new Congress.

For now, though, it’s time to celebrate. The Pelosi Era is over!
