“Full Measure” host Sharyl Attkisson speaks with FBI whistleblower Stephen Friend who says he wants to report politically motivated investigations and operations during the 2020 election campaign, including an alleged entrapment plot to kidnap Democratic Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer while she was running for re-election and investigating non-violent participants in the January 6, 2021 Capitol riot.

“Stephen Friend says financial incentives rewarded FBI managers who built lots of cases under the heading of domestic terrorism,” Sharyl Attkisson reports.

About the January 6-related cases, he said: “I had sort of a mixed review. There were some violent actions by individuals that probably warranted criminal prosecution, but I also saw other cases where the individual was simply walking into the Capitol building with the permission of the Capitol Police officers. I told the FBI that very same fact and on occasion, there was surveillance video to support it.”

“It kind of seemed to me it was a waste of our valuable resources to pursue even an interview with that individual if we have them on video not committing any crime and just walking into the Capitol building, which was their right to do as an American citizen,” he said about some of the participants of January 6 who were contacted and investigated by the FBI.

“With the overlap of the way that those [Whitmer plot] individuals may have been entrapped, I saw that some of these individuals with January 6th were being allowed into the Capitol by police officers… smelled a little bit like entrapment. I didn’t want to make the same mistake twice,” Friend said.

He said when he voiced his concerns, FBI’s Jacksonville Special Agent in charge Sherri Onks “said that that was a very fringe belief and that I needed to do some soul-searching about whether or not I wanted to have a future in the FBI.”
