Democrats desperately want America to lose this war

OPINION:
They whine ceaselessly about endless wars. They say our action against Iran’s murderous theocracy is clearly unconstitutional. They claim we’re seeking regime change.
Make no mistake: Democrats want America to lose this war.
Iran is the chief sponsor of international terrorism, has spent the past 47 years murdering Americans in places such as Iraq and Afghanistan and just slaughtered more than 32,000 of its own people, who were demonstrating for change.
Before the war started, the Islamic republic was well on its way to acquiring nuclear weapons. It had an arsenal of ballistic missiles, some capable of reaching the United States. Negotiations were futile.
When they chanted, “Death to America,” it wasn’t just a slogan.
The regime that has ruled Iran since 1979 and today’s Democratic Party have much in common. Both want an isolated and severely weakened America. One seeks the annihilation of Israel. The other will do nothing to stop it.
The Democratic Party’s leaders of the past, including Presidents Truman and Kennedy, would be mortified at what their party has become. Kennedy called Israel “the child of hope.”
Within hours of the first strikes, Rep. Ilhan Omar, Minnesota Democrat, charged, “Trump has launched an illegal regime change war.”
Why not? If there was ever a regime that needed changing, it’s the one currently in power.
Rep. Rashida Tlaib, Michigan Democrat, said the president “doesn’t care about the Iranian people.”
Does Ms. Tlaib care about the 32,000 Iranians killed for seeking democratic change or future victims if the ayatollahs remain in power?
Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, New York Democrat, said, “Just this week, Iran and the United States were negotiating key measures that could have staved off war.” Yeah, and in 1941, Tokyo was negotiating with Washington when bombs fell on Pearl Harbor.
In the past two years, the U.S. and Iran have had eight rounds of negotiations, all of which worked as well as Charlie Brown and the football.
New York’s Marxist Mayor Zohran Mamdani charged, “Today’s military strikes on Iran, carried out by the United States and Israel, mark a catastrophic escalation in an illegal war of aggression.
In fact, the Islamic republic has been at war with the West since its inception.
House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries predicted that the war “is going to end in failure.” He wishes. Senate Minority Leader Charles E. Schumer called it a “war of choice, not necessity.” Sometimes the only choice is to fight or die.
California Gov. Gavin Newsom dragged out the old canard about Israel being “an apartheid state.” Yeah, we wouldn’t want one of those to help save civilization. Perhaps Mr. Newsom could find an ayatollah to run with in 2028, if any are left.
President Trump is aiming for a limited war. Unlike in Iraq and Afghanistan, the people are with us this time. It’s the ayatollahs’ American auxiliary that wants an open-ended conflict.
In the 1970s, the Democratic Party came to power on the heels of the Vietnam War, which lasted more than a decade. With Iran, the party of surrender needs time to mobilize its cadres and fully indoctrinate the public.
In his State of the Union address, Mr. Trump asked members of Congress to stand if they believed that protecting Americans, not illegal aliens, was the first duty of government. Democrats in the chamber were glued to their seats.
Now, someone should ask Democrats to stand if they believe America has a right to self-defense, if they don’t want another half-century of a monstrous tyranny that has brutalized its own people as it spreads terror to every corner of the globe, if they don’t want to take the chance of these lunatics getting nuclear weapons.
The Democratic Party has been in league with the ayatollahs since the Islamic Revolution. President Carter helped them come to power in 1979 by withdrawing our support from Shah Mohammad Reza Pahlavi, who, though an autocrat, was a steadfast ally of the U.S. and Israel.
In 2015, President Obama made a disastrous deal that gave Iran $56 billion to advance its nuclear weapons program. President Biden maintained an open border for four years, letting in thousands of potential terrorists.
Texas Democratic Senate candidate James Talarico complains, “Every dollar we’re spending on this war could be used to improve the lives of Americans.”
How, by building fallout shelters? We’ll need them if Operation Epic Fury fails.
