Karmelo Anthony also allegedly asked the responding officer if the stabbing incident could be considered ‘self defense’

My cmnt: This is soooooo terribly sad, evil and disgusting that I was thinking of not posting it. My best friends in grade school were twins. The absolutely unnecessary and horrendous murdering of a twin is a crime against humanity. Twins have such a special bond and love that to randomly murder one – in front of the other – is like Hamas murdering Israeli babies and infants in front of their parents.

The 17-year-old suspect accused of stabbing another teen to death at a Texas high school track meet allegedly confessed to a police officer shortly after the deadly attack.

Authorities have charged Karmelo Anthony, a student-athlete from Frisco Centennial High School, with murder after he allegedly stabbed 17-year-old Austin Metcalf, a junior at Memorial High School in Frisco, to death on Wednesday morning over a seating dispute.

A school resource officer was the first to arrive at the scene and comfort Anthony, according to an arrest report obtained by FOX 4 Dallas-Fort Worth.

“I gave the suspect instructions to keep his hands up in the air. During this time, the suspect said verbally out loud, ‘I was protecting myself,’” the report from the responding resource officer states.

The suspect also allegedly told the officer that Metcalf “put his hands on” him.

When the officer told some others that he had the alleged stabbing suspect in custody, Anthony apparently said, “I’m not alleged. I did it,” according to the arrest report obtained by FOX 4.

“He put his hands on me. I told him not to,” Anthony allegedly said as authorities walked the teenager to a police vehicle.

Anthony also asked the officers if Metcalf was “going to be okay” and asked if what happened could be considered “self-defense,” FOX 4 reported, citing the police document.

Metcalf’s twin brother, Hunter, who spoke on “The Will Cain Show” Wednesday alongside his grieving mother, Meghan, recalled the moment he saw his brother with a wound to his chest after the altercation with Anthony.

“I whipped my head around, and then all of a sudden I see him running down the bleachers just grabbing his chest… I put my hand on there, tried to make [the bleeding] stop, and I grabbed his head and I looked in his eyes. I just saw his soul leave, and it took my soul, too,” Hunter said.

Anthony is being held in a Collin County jail on $1 million bail.

Mourning mother, twin brother of slain Texas teen speak out: ‘Lost my best friend in the blink of an eye’

17-year-old Austin Metcalf was killed after an altercation at a Frisco track meet turned deadly

Choking back tears, the grieving Texas mother and twin brother of 17-year-old Austin Metcalf struggled to explain the devastation they feel after he was stabbed to death in a terrifying scene at a track meet in Frisco, Texas.

Austin Metcalf, a junior at Memorial High School in Frisco, was stabbed in the chest allegedly by 17-year-old Karmelo Anthony, a student-athlete from Frisco Centennial High School. The altercation reportedly began as a seating dispute as the teams waited for the delayed competition to begin.

The suspect has been arrested and charged with murder.

“My son is gone, and I don’t really have words,” Meghan Metcalf wept Thursday on “The Will Cain Show.” “He’s just going to be so missed by mostly our family, but this whole community has really wrapped their arms around us. If I could say anything to the nation, I would say to make sure that you just hug your babies tight, because you don’t know when [is] the last time you get to do it.”

Austin was “extremely smart” and a “highly recruited” football player, and his twin brother Hunter remembered him as “just a great person overall” who was “always there to check on me and keep me straight, so I wouldn’t get in trouble.”

Hunter Metcalf recounted the tragedy Thursday on “The Will Cain Show.” He explained that the brothers noticed the suspect near their team tent. When the brother tried to question the suspect, the situation escalated, he said.

“My brother stepped in. He started being how he always is. We’re just brothers, just having my back. Things started getting more, like, higher intensity, and the kid said some, like, aggressive stuff — like, reckless stuff — and Austin tried to handle the problem,” Hunter said, recounting Austin’s final moments.

“I whipped my head around, and then all of a sudden I see him running down the bleachers just grabbing his chest… I put my hand on there, tried to make it [the bleeding] stop, and I grabbed his head and I looked in his eyes. I just saw his soul leave, and it took my soul, too.”

The incident occurred at about 10 a.m. at Kuykendall Stadium at the University Interscholastic League’s District 11-5A championship meet. Anthony attends Frisco Centennial, roughly 7 miles away from Frisco Memorial.

According to the Frisco Independent School District, the meet was suspended shortly after the incident. The ISD added that the stadium “was immediately secured, and students were released and sent back to their home campus on FISD buses with expediency.”

Meanwhile, the Metcalf family is grappling with rage and grief over the sudden loss of Austin.

“I am so angry at that boy. It’s just not fair,” Meghan cried out.

The Metcalf family’s church held a vigil in Austin’s honor on Wednesday night, drawing hundreds of people.

“Seventeen years, my best friend, just there in the blink of an eye, I lost him. So I’m not at that point to forgive and forget, but eventually I will,” Hunter said.

“I just pray for [the suspect’s] family,” he added. “I pray that they understand what we’re going through as well.”

A GoFundMe page was started by Austin’s father, Jeff Metcalf, to help the family heal.

Grieving Texas father speaks out after son was stabbed to death at high school track meet

Father of Austin Metcalf tells ‘America Reports’ teenager died in his twin brother’s arms

By Madison Colombo Fox News – Published April 3, 2025 3:20pm EDT – Fox

A Texas father is speaking out after his 17-year-old son was fatally stabbed during a high school track meet, telling Fox News his life is “destroyed.”

Austin Metcalf, a junior at Memorial High School in Frisco, was stabbed in the chest allegedly by 17-year-old Karmelo Anthony, a student from another school. The altercation reportedly began as a seating dispute as the teams waited for the delayed competition to begin.

“My son is gone, and he’ll never come home again,” Austin’s father, Jeff Metcalf, said Thursday on “America Reports.”

“Austin was the light of my life.”

According to Jeff Metcalf, Austin died in the arms of his twin brother, Hunter, who desperately tried to stop the bleeding but was unable to save him.

“They were so tight. They had the best bond. They were best friends,” Metcalf said of the pair.

“And now, I have to focus on taking care of Hunter.”

While the Metcalf family mourns, they are urging the public not to speculate about racial or political motives behind the stabbing.

Austin Metcalf’s father, Jeff Metcalf, speaks about the stabbing death of his son at a high school track meet.

“I want to clarify something right off to start because I’ve already heard some rumors and gossip. This was not a race thing. This is not a political thing,” Jeff Metcalf told “America Reports” co-anchor John Roberts.

“Do not politicize this. It’s not … this is a human being thing. This person made a bad choice and affected both his family and my family forever.”

Described as an honor student, a talented athlete, and a compassionate young man, Austin had dreams of playing college football. His social media profile listed a 3.97 GPA and participation in multiple football camps.

“He lit up the room everywhere he went,” his father said.

On Wednesday night, the family’s church held a vigil in his honor, drawing hundreds of people. Jeff Metcalf said his faith is helping him navigate the loss.

“I rely heavily on my faith to get me through this,” he said.

Despite his grief, he says he has chosen forgiveness.

“People ask me, how can you forgive this other person? I said I forgive the other person because the forgiveness is not for him. The forgiveness is for me so I can have peace,” he said.

“His life is destroyed. My life is destroyed.”

The weekend before Austin’s death, the father and his sons spent time hunting together, one last memory before tragedy struck. Jeff Metcalf recalled their final conversation the day before the stabbing.

“He said, ‘Dad, I’m going to come over this weekend, help mow your grass because I know your arm’s hurting.’ And I said, ‘OK.’ He said, ‘I love you, Dad.’ And I say, ‘I love you too, son.’”

“Those were the last words I ever heard from him.”

The suspect, a student-athlete from Frisco Centennial High School, has been arrested and charged with murder.
