Biden takes jab at Trump while applauding Jimmy Carter’s decency, shares fake memory of late president

Biden calls Jimmy Carter ‘a dear friend’ of more than 50 years

My cmnt: Biden makes up stories again. It’s always all about him. Headline: World Ends Today – Biden says, “God asked him first.” Also, the Jimmy Carter years, which the wife and I lived thru, were horrible. I got laid off as a computer operator, had to work two part-time, minimum wage labor jobs (yard work and school bus driver), 20+ percent interest rates, 16+ percent mortgage rates, sky high gas prices, energy shortages, wear two sweaters to keep warm in your own home, Jimmy’s national “malaise”, 12+ percent unemployment, double-digit inflation, horrible hostage crisis with Iran – and those were the good things!

My cmnt: Just like with Algore, Jimmy became morally bankrupt from too close an association with national democrats. Both went from being rational, proLife Evangelicals to being warped pro-Abort, nature worshipping global warming, trans-advocating, nut jobs. If you’re waiting to get a house from Habitat for Humanity you probably play the lottery also.

Habitat for Humanity is a Joke

I worked for Habitat for Hamanity for 4 years, 3 of which were amazing. However it was the last year working with them I learned some disturbing things. I worked at a location in Ontario Canada. After climbing the ladder in the organization, I started to learn some very unsettling things, like where the money went, and how much money actually went into building homes, and how they chose the families that they thought deserved a home. Only 20% of all profits actually go into building the homes and helping families, the rest goes right into corporate pockets. The people they choose to get these homes aren’t people in serious need either. They choose people that will make good publicity, attractive single Moms, with teenagers that will soon be leaving for university. If you are in actually need of a home, and truly need a better place for your family to grow up, then you simply wont qualify. That being said, their slogan is “Everyone deserves a decent place to live” yet most of their hard working employees that live in low income housing, struggling to make ends meet. I worked at this job because I truly enjoyed thinking I was helping make the world a better place, until I learnt I wasn’t helping at all. Ask questions, I am willing to answer.

President Biden addressed the nation on Sunday in the wake of former President Jimmy Carter’s death, commending the late statesman while also taking a swipe at the current president-elect during his speech.

Biden, who sounded hoarse during the speech, said he “lost a dear friend” on Sunday, noting that he had known Carter for more than 50 years. Carter passed away in Plains, Georgia, at the age of 100, after nearly two years of being in hospice care.

During his remarks, Biden said Carter is a model “of what it means to live a life of meaning and purpose, a life of principle, faith and humility.”

“Some look at Jimmy Carter and see a man of a bygone era with honesty and character. Faith and humility mattered, but I don’t believe it’s a bygone era,” Biden said. “We’d all do well to try to be more like Jimmy Carter.”

Biden said his fondest memory of Carter happened in the 1970s when the then-Georgia governor asked Biden for help with his presidential campaign.

“He grabbed me by the arm and said, ‘I need you to help with my campaign,'” Biden recalled. “I said, ‘I’ve only been around a couple of years, Mr. Governor.’ He said, ‘No, it’ll make a difference.'”

“I said, ‘I’m not sure it will,” Biden added. “When I endorsed him for president, I told him why [I] was endorsing him and that it was not only his policies but his character, his decency, the honor he communicated to everyone.”

When a reporter asked Biden what President-elect Trump should take from Carter’s legacy,Biden replied, “Decency.”

“Decency, decency, decency. … Can you imagine Jimmy Carter walking by someone who needed something and just keep walking? Can you imagine Jimmy Carter referring to someone by the way they look or the way they talk?”

Biden’s speech came after Trump issued his own statement about Carter’s death.

“Those of us who have been fortunate to have served as President understand this is a very exclusive club, and only we can relate to the enormous responsibility of leading the Greatest Nation in History,” Trump wrote on Truth Social. “The challenges Jimmy faced as President came at a pivotal time for our country and he did everything in his power to improve the lives of all Americans. For that, we all owe him a debt of gratitude.”

Trump later wrote that although he “strongly” disagreed with Carter philosophically and politically, he realized that the former president “truly loved and respected” the U.S. and all it stands for.

“He worked hard to make America a better place, and for that I give him my highest respect,” Trump said. “He was truly a good man and, of course, will be greatly missed. He was also very consequential, far more than most Presidents, after he left the Oval Office.”

The Carter years were some of the worst days that my family has ever had to endure. I was working 2 jobs and my wife cleaned houses at the time. Our mortgage was set at 17.25%, we both argued about what was more important to buy at the grocery store and we actually did run out of gas waiting to pump fuel into our old Ford. While I am sorry about Jimmy Carter passing, I cursed his being everyday I worked those backbreaking 14 and16 hour shifts inside of Sutton Industries coal mine. I am 83 now, I’ll never forget the Carter Presidency.

Under Carter, the annual inflation rate rose from 4.8% in 1976 to 6.8% in 1977, 9% in 1978, 11% in 1979, and hovered around 12% at the time of the 1980 election campaign. It would only be rubbing salt in the wound to point out that by the time Carter left office in January 1981 the 30-year fixed mortgage rate was 16.63%, the Federal Funds rate was 20%, and the Prime Rate was 21% – so I won’t. When Carter left office in January 1981, the inflation rate was 11.83% and we were told to get used to it, it was the “new normal,” and there was nothing that could be done about it. When Reagan left office in January 1989, his policies had reduced the inflation rate to 4.67%, lower than it was when Carter had taken office 12 years earlier. (from congosquare)

Do you remember how he asked us to keep our thermostats at 55 degrees in the winter?

This current generations that didn’t live thru the Carter administration have no idea of how Carter’s ‘Economic Malaise’ impacted everyday Americans, not to mention the energy crisis and the complete failure of foreign policy…

You are absolutely correct, except I would have said survived his administration rather than lived through it. Joe’s administration has been worse in the same ways plus more. This generation didn’t feel the pain we felt back then because now we borrowed ourselves into an impossible debt so these kids wouldn’t feel the true result of Biden’s crooked follies. They will feel it though before their lives are over. It doesn’t really matter any more who is in office, that debt has to be paid and/or the American dollar will crumble. This country has much suffering in its future and best to start now digging out of debt rather than later. The days of give aways has to stop now. Unfortunately, Joe will not be around to suffer through what he has done

What I remember is not receiving a pay raise for four years due to the economy.

Biden can’t help himself. I assure you, Biden’s many handlers did NOT have that in his remarks. Biden did that on his own, and he completely thinks that ALL of the American people are celebrating his insult to Trump. In his dementia, he hates Trump with a passion. This wasn’t even seen in the Nixon days. Biden is trying everything he can do to sabotage America before he leaves office to Trump. He thinks he’s sabotaging Trump. We all will find out the difference.

Brandon ain’t got too many thoughts whizzing through his head now a days. I would bet high dollar that his handlers wrote what he said via a portable tele-prompter. Which of course he always has at the ready.

A decent person would have limited their remarks to the charter of the deceased, and support for the grieving family. They would have left politics for another day.

A “dear friend” does not use a dear friend’s death to throw thinly-veiled shade at his enemy.

Can you imagine Carter stealing classified documents and using his son to sell access to him to foreign adversaries while in office? Wonder why biden said nothing about that.

I don’t believe Biden had this conversation with Carter. It’s yet another story he made up in his head. Also I remember people were not too fond of the Carter administration either. People didn’t vote for Trump because of his manors, they voted to him because of his policies. Just making this death a political issue makes Joe Biden have no decency.

That’s true. People were not too fond of the Carter administration. I remember the long gas lines and the manners you needed to navigate through them. Finally, there’s absolutely nothing that comes out of Biden’s mouth that has even brushed up against truth. He’s a liar and an indecent man who is still scared of a 6 year old girl, his granddaughter.

Carter gave us Ronald Reagan. Biden is giving us a much stronger Trump, and a Trump coalition.

Carter was fortunate to have lived long enough to see an even worse president than himself. And he is still more coherent than Brandon and our outgoing administration.

It seems that Republicans always have to rescue our country from Democratic economic chaos.

Speaking of decency and morality, I remember one of those Presidents spoke at Exalted Cyclops Robert Byrd’s funeral and declared him to be a great person and personal friend. (Bubba)

First, I am glad that Carter lived long enough to see Trump get elected, twice. Second, the difference between a classless president and a classy president is in the statements. Biden attacks Trump. However, Trump speaks well of Carter, the second worse president in our country’s history. Of course, Biden is the worse hands down.

4th worst. Stop forgetting the damage we are still feeling from Clinton with NAFTA and the cause of the housing crash, as well as Obama who didn’t do a single thing for this country.

Trump’s statements just show that Trump is a gentlemen at heart and when harsh or rude statements would not serve any good purpose he does not make them. His statements concerning the death of ole Jimmy are merely polite falsehoods meant as comfort to his survivors. President Trump’s statements on the death of Jimmy Carter are meant as his final words and thoughts concerning Jimmy, and does not mean he takes back his prior criticisms of the man and his policies.

During his remarks, Biden said Carter is a model “of what it means to live a life of meaning and purpose, a life of principle, faith and humility.” Something Biden has no awareness of.

“We’d all do well to try to be more like Jimmy Carter,” said Brandon. Well, Carter was an incompetent President. In that regard, Joe achieved and exceeded that goal.

President Trump issued a compassionate, yet honest message. He did not make it political toward his opponents, other than stating he did not agree with President Carter’s political beliefs. President Biden on the other hand makes it political, attacking President Trump. Tell us, President Biden, how that makes you more ‘Decent’?

Did you mean quasi president biden?

Oldlefty004 – I had committed myself to joining the military at a fairly young age. When I did in 1979 Carter had already eliminated the GI bill for us. Basically an unforgivable act in my opinion, especially for a man who was also a veteran. My training was valuable and translated into civilian life easily, so I took advantage of that and got out after 4 years. One of Regan’s first moves was to get it reinstated. But the Democrat held house did not make it retroactive. I consider myself one of the lucky ones, I used my skills and discipline and sold our business and retired at 57. Luckily I wasn’t in the market to buy a home when Carter had interest rates in the teens.

53 Americans held hostage for 444 days during the Carter Regime. Sky high mortgage interest rates. Record breaking inflation. Long gas lines. High unemployment. These are things I remember about Jimmy Carter. Nothing decent about that.

Hambone66 – Carter’s brother, Billy, had a tangible product to sell called Billy Beer. Joe’s brother sold our country.

mike.m. My dad bought two cases of Billy beer. One to hold onto as a future collector’s item and the other to drink. He didn’t even finish one can of the beer because it tasted horrible. That said a lot considering his favorite beer was Schlitz. He sold the cases in the 1990s for $300. Not bad considering he paid less than $20 for both cases.

My first time voting in a Presidential election was in 1974, I was 18. I voted for Jimmy Carter. I became engaged in politics, the economy, and world affairs. I wanted to understand what we were going through as a nation at that time, inflation, foreign oil impact, terrorism etc. I voted for Ronald Reagan in the next election. The headline on this article that Biden took a jab at President Trump upon Jimmy Carters death is not surprising. The Democrats use such rhetoric as a governing strategy. Obama perfected it dividing the country.

I would have to fact check Biden if He said today is Monday

“Can you imagine Jimmy Carter referring to someone by the way they look or the way they talk?” No, but I can imagine interest on a home loan being 17%. Actually, I don’t need to imagine it, because that was a reality when Carter was President.

Hey Brandon, Decency is not pardoning your son for all the crimes he committed (known or unknown) for a decade period of time. Decency is not commuting the death sentence for dozens of the most violent murderers the nation has in its prisons. Decency is not selling out your nation for millions of dollars in payouts from foreign entities.

dazeoff2play944 – Biden did this because he knows he will be facing a higher authority very soon & is meeting with the POPE in Italy very soon to ask for confession. Remember Pelosi’s visit to the Pope last year? They both want to believe they will have a clean soul, but it’s the Devil who has a place waiting for them.

Decency, decency, decency. … Can you imagine Jimmy Carter walking by someone who needed something and just keep walking? Can you imagine Jimmy Carter referring to someone by the way they look or the way they talk?” Do you mean like Brandon and DEI have been doing this past decade?

I’ll never forget the odor of kerosene being sold at the gas pumps during Carter’s admin. Nor the headaches caused by the house permeated with it after a cold night. I voted Trump for a reason.

gusdad456 – I’m 70. He’s the last Democrat I voted for. One term of Carter made me grow up and pay attention, and for that I’m grateful. He would have made a great next door neighbor, but as a president he was weak and failed to deal with reality.

OliveBullhorn1 – Good point.. Neighbor yes… President no.

Some look at Jimmy Carter and see a man of a bygone era with honesty and character. Faith and humility mattered, but I don’t believe it’s a bygone era,” Biden said. “We’d all do well to try to be more like Jimmy Carter.” Biden has none of these qualities. Looking forward to Biden being in a bygone era. Carter may have had these personal traits, he died knowing he would finally not be remembered as the worst president ever. Biden has that title locked up.

maxxmetal – “We’d all do well to try to be more like Jimmy Carter.” Does he mean like “Not” taking 10’s of million dollars from our enemies? Or maybe he means, “Not” pardoning your son who performed tax evasion and gun felonies, in direct opposition of laws you have supported and passed? Or does he mean “Not” using law fare against your political opponents. Maybe, “Not” looking at your watch while they unload the bodies of Soldiers you are directly responsible for the deaths of? Biden has not and will never know the meaning of the word “Decency”.

Carter did do some nice things but only before and after his presidency. I was there. My first time voting. I voted for Ford. Only choice I could make at the time. Long longs at the pumps, the Iran debacle, high interest rates. He just wasn’t tough enough with his foreign affairs. As usual, apparently Biden knows all about him. I think Biden took some pages from the Carter administration. Biden says that Trump needs to have decency. He needs to look in the mirror. Strange how the Democrats spew their rhetoric when it is how the Democrats roll. Trump gave a very good speech about Carter, yet Biden’s speech was lacking truth.

There are far more negatives, maybe I should say disasters, from the Carter administration than there were any positives.

Love President Trump and his policies, however, I’ve often felt that, sometimes, he opens himself up to criticism for no good reason by saying some of the things he says. He doesn’t need to do it. His performance speaks for him. On the other hand, bribe-extorting, money-laundering, family-abusing Biden has no business commenting on ‘decency.’

Carter was a good man that had a political view that wasn’t America first. Unlike Brandon, who is not a good man and has put America last.

And that makes Bidumb the clear winner of worst president in US history.

Biden speaks, or reads, as if he is relevant. This is a man whose own party undercut and disarmed him. His words mean nothing. He has his own party to thank for the fact.

HiHoSilver421 – He has only himself to thank for his failures. The most corrupt man in America. He even embarrasses our enemies with his greed.

usa1927 – Joe managed to work on the Carter campaign while driving a truck, fighting Corn Pop, going to the moon, and inventing the internet. He also dug out the Grand Canyon on the weekends. demnomore377 – With a teaspoon! HiHoSilver421 – While advising Abe Lincoln on combating the British Mau-maus.

Biden making remarks about Carter is like P-Diddy eulogizing Mr. Rodgers. Carter was everything Biden is not, except being a bad statesman. I truly believe Pres. Carter tried his best, but just wasn’t up to the task. Joe just saw dollar signs. Rest in Gods embrace, Mr. Carter. Yours was a life well lived.

My friends lost their jobs and homes when Carter was the president. It was a dark time in American history. 18% mortgage rate, American hostages in Iran, that’s the legacy of Jimmy Carter.

Panama Canal. Dept of Education. Carter was a puppet of the Left. They just hid it better than they were able to with Biden.

President Carter was far from perfect and many of his policies were very bad for the country. That said President Carter, Reagan and Trump love this country and always wanted the best for its people although they had differences in how to do that. Biden and Obama thought of themselves … their power, influence and personal agendas … as well as Schumer, Pelosi, Schiff and Reid.

OlivePumpkin – Both Carter and Biden were not good presidents. The difference is that the Carter’s leave behind a legacy of giving and the Biden’s leave behind a legacy of taking.

chattyone – President Carter wasn’t a strong president but as a person he certainly set a good example all of us could and should follow. Biden is not only a disgrace to this country but to humanity as well. Certainly not a good example.

ChairmanZhouBaiDin – I was in the Marine Corps under both Carter and Reagan–1977 to 1987–in the 1st Marine Brigade, which was the beginning of the rapid deployment force, and 3d MARDIV. Under Carter, we were useless. We had no money, no supplies, and no equipment for training, much less for deployment. We couldn’t have fought our way out of a wet paper bag. Reagan was like night and day. Within months of his taking the helm, we had everything we hoped for and more. Not to mention the Iranian hostages were returned day one. I have been a conservative ever since.

Nokneelingforthisexfan – Let me get this straight: a guy who showered with his 11 year old daughter, and introduced his son – who had 20 LLC’s to launder money – to foreign leaders, and spied on the incoming POTUS, and disobeyed the SCOTUS, invited millions of immigrants to illegally cross our border, unchecked and many with active Covid-19, and put them on welfare, and actively worked to limit American’s First Amendment, is talking about TRUMP’s decency? OK.

So, the worst president in history by far (Biden), is telling the most successful president in recent times (Trump) to emulate the behavior of the now third worst president in history (Carter). Joe once again demonstrates that he is (and has for a long time) been unfit to be president.

I don’t know how many of you were alive and in business during Carter’s administration, but here is a brief review. Home loans were in the neighborhood of 12%, business loans were near 25%, and that was people with good credit. Energy costs surged about the same as the past 4 years, inflation at 11% or so. The crowning blow that brought us Regan was all that and a weak foreign policy that led to Iranian take over and incarnation of embassy personnel for over 400 days, while our military training and material declined so much that personnel were killed in a failed attempt to rescue them. How does that compare to Biden? Those who do not learn history are compelled to repeat it. One thing Carter could have taught Biden is honesty.
