There is a prominent white guy who was once a member of a racist organization. He recruited fellow-racists at $10.00 a head, and has a history of uttering such vile and hateful speech that I cannot and will not repeat them.
This is a family site.
In 1964 he filibustered on the floor of the United States Senate in opposition to the landmark Civil Rights Act.
After a speech lasting over 14 hours, he and 20 other Senate Democrats–yes, Democrats–voted against civil rights.
For the record, 82% of Senate Republicans voted for the bill. Only 69% of Democrats voted aye.
The 1964 Civil Rights Act would not have passed without Republican support. In fact, President Lyndon Johnson conceded that he did not have the votes of his own party.
Of course, it was the Republican Party that was founded on an abolitionist platform in 1854.
And it was a Republican-appointed Supreme Court Justice, John Marshall Harlan, who was the lone dissenter in the famous 1896 case of Plessy v. Ferguson, which upheld Southern segregation statutes.

Harlan wrote in his minority opinion that segregation degraded African-Americans and held them in servitude.

Harlan wrote:

The white race deems itself to be the dominant race in this country. But in view of the constitution, in the eye of the law, there is in this country no superior, dominant, ruling class of citizens. There is no caste here. Our constitution is color-blind, and neither knows nor tolerates classes among citizens. In respect of civil rights, all citizens are equal before the law. The humblest is the peer of the most powerful. The law regards man as man, and takes no account of his surroundings or of his color when his civil rights as guaranteed by the supreme law of the land are involved.

Harlan was a conservative.

The misconception–or lie–is that conservative white males are racist, sexist and homophobic.
Saul Alinsky (and Vladimar Lenin) said that if a lie is told often enough it becomes truth.
The point is that non-whites can say things with impunity that no white male could even be allowed to think.
The readers of this strip are no doubt aware of the infamous Democrat Senator that I referenced above.
He is President pro tempore of the United States Senate, a position that puts him third in the line of presidential succession, behind Vice President Joe Biden and House Speaker Nancy Pelosi.
Robert Byrd, Senator from West Virginia, has exorcised the ghosts of his racist past; but when he uttered an offensive racial epithet a few years ago, his party did not chastise him.
Liberals are quick to point out hypocrisy from the right, but it’s just as ugly coming from the left.
